October 30, Listening Session For Grades 9+

Dear Oxford families of students in grades 9 and above,

As referenced in our earlier message, the school board and I have established school level parent listening sessions and a community listening session for next week. These sessions are to sit down with our families and community to hear your reflections on the report and share our progress in reviewing the report. The details regarding the session for your student’s grade level are listed below. If you have students in multiple levels, you will receive an invitation for each level and are welcome to attend any or all of the sessions:

Listening session for high school level families:

November 6, 2023, at 6 p.m. at Oxford High School

Listening sessions will be held in classrooms in the 500 hall. Those interested in attending can enter through the north building entrance at door #2 and our staff will direct you to the appropriate classroom based on your student’s grade level.

A listening session for the community is planned for Thurs., Nov. 9, at 6:00 – 7:30pm in the Oxford Middle School Media Center.

As with the first report, we will share our response after thoroughly reviewing the final report. We remain guided by our commitment to excellence, our desire to respond with compassion and empathy to those impacted, and our commitment to be a learning institution. For your reference, the final report can be found at this link:https://guidepostsolutions.com/oxford-community-schools-board-of-education-independent-investigation/

The Oxford community has shown extraordinary acts of compassion and caring even in the midst of tragedy. We are immensely grateful for the support and partnership we have received as we endeavor to make a difference in the lives of our students.

Sincerely,
Dr. Vickie L. Markavitch
Oxford Community Schools Superintendent
