September 6, OK2Say Threat Investigation

Dear Oxford High School Families,

Late Monday evening, one of our school resource officers was contacted by a student regarding hearsay of a possible threat overheard at Friday night’s football game. The potential threat was reportedly made against a small number of specific students involved in a disagreement at the game.  Both school resource officers left their homes late in the evening to investigate these reports in the community. After speaking with students and families at three different homes, at approximately 1:00 a.m. this morning, our administration was updated on the status of this situation.

The individual who is said to have made the threat has been identified, located and an investigation is underway by law enforcement.  Although this is an ongoing investigation and we are limited in what we can share due to privacy laws, we have been advised by law enforcement that to the best of their knowledge there is no active threat at Oxford High School at this time.

We are proud of the Wildcats who reported these concerning statements. Please continue to encourage your students to utilize the Ok2Say anonymous reporting tool and/or reach out to law enforcement with concerning information.  The OK2SAY app is available for iOS and Android devices or tips can be reported at https://www.michigan.gov/ok2say website as well.

Sincerely,

Ken Weaver
Superintendent
