July 18, Staffing Changes at OHS

Dear Oxford High School Students, Parents and Staff,

As we prepare for the start of the 2022-2023 school year, we have many important staffing changes that have taken place.  These changes continue to help us maintain and strengthen our commitment to educational excellence and ensure every Oxford student is prepared to succeed.

Mrs. Beazley has been working diligently throughout the summer in her new role as Principal at Oxford High School to prepare for the upcoming school year.  One of Mrs. Beazley’s first steps was to complete the interview process for the Assistant Principal position.  We are excited to announce that Mr. Kevin Nelms has been selected to become an Assistant Principal at Oxford High School.  This additional position was added to supplement the existing assistant principal team of Mr. Kurt Nuss and Mrs. Kristy Gibson-Marshall.  Mr. Nelms has taught special education for 20 years in Lapeer Community Schools, Carmen-Ainsworth Community Schools, and has served as a special education teacher at Oxford High School the last 3 years.  We are very excited to have Mr. Nelms join the administrative team at Oxford High School.

As we continue to prepare for the 2022-2023 school year at Oxford High School, we want to keep our community informed of changes regarding administrative staff and other positional changes that will have a direct impact on the social/emotional and mental health needs of our students.

  • Mr. Kevin Kalbfleisch has most recently served as the Interim Dean of Students at Oxford High School.  Mr. Kalbfleisch will move into a Family School Liaison role at Oxford High School.
  • Mrs. Pamela Fine most recently served as the K-12 Anti-Bullying and Restorative Care Coordinator.  Mrs. Fine will move into a Family School Liaison role at Oxford High School.
  • Mrs. Christine Ellis most recently served as a Family School Liaison at Oxford High School.  Mrs. Ellis will move to Oxford Middle School as a Family School Liaison.
  • Mr. Nick Ejak most recently served as the Dean of Students at Oxford High School.  Mr. Ejak will move to Oxford Crossroads Day School as a Student Support Specialist.  We are currently interviewing candidates for the Dean of Students position.

We have also experienced many changes within our counseling department.

  • Mrs. Ashley Finkley has most recently served as a Counselor at Oxford High School.  Mrs. Finkley has resigned from Oxford Community Schools to take a new position.
  • Mrs. Stephanie Brevik has most recently served as a Counselor at Oxford High School.  Mrs. Brevik will move into a Spanish teaching position at Oxford High School.
  • Mr. Shawn Hopkins most recently served as a Counselor at Oxford High School.  Mr. Hopkins will move to Oxford Bridges High School as a Student Support Specialist.

As communicated in the spring, our intention is to staff OHS with six counselors. We are pleased to have Mr. Charles Jergler, Mr. Mike Brennan, and Mrs. Kristen Glaz join the counseling team at the end of last year.  Additionally, we have recently hired Mrs. Anna Hotchkiss and Mrs. Laura Stanjones who will join the counseling team in the fall.  We will begin our search for Mrs. Ashley Finkley’s replacement immediately to bring staffing up to six counselors at OHS.  We are fortunate to have an experienced group of counselors serving our student needs and will communicate additional details regarding counselor student assignments soon.

Sincerely,

Ken Weaver
Oxford Community Schools Superintendent
