April 14, Loss of a Beloved Wildcat

Dear Oxford High School Families,

It is with tremendously heavy hearts we share with you that yesterday, April 13, 2023, Oxford senior Daphne Beethem passed away as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Daphne will be dearly missed by so many.  She was a student at Lakeville Elementary, Oxford Middle School and Oxford High School. She was a kind, creative and hard-working young lady. The list of activities in which she was involved is endless. Most recently, her artistic gifts touched everyone as she was an instrumental part of the Little Mermaid’s stage crew in crafting the fireflies that magically lit up the aisles.  She gave of her time for others in activities like I’m Third, Leadership, and S.A.D.D. and spent years as a student-athlete participating in the Oxford Bowling and Tennis teams. When Daphne wasn’t at a school club or activity she was working at the White Horse Inn in Metamora. She had a friendly and warm personality that touched many lives.

Our District crisis team has gathered and has a plan of support for both students and staff who are in need. The All for Oxford Resiliency Center has extended their hours today and will be open into the evening to help district students and families.

Please keep Daphne’s family, loved ones, and friends in your thoughts and prayers as they cope with her tragic loss.

Sincerely,

Oxford Community Schools
