November 18, OHS Remote Learning Plan

OHS Parent(s) and Guardian(s),

We wanted to follow up from the District’s communication on Tuesday evening and provide more details regarding our remote learning plan for this Monday and Tuesday, November 22 and November 23.

  • Remote classes for all OHS students begin Monday, November 22nd, at our regular star time - 7:48am.  Please see the Remote Bell Schedule.png included with this message, which includes all 7 period classes.  This bell schedule is similar to our regular in-person school day schedule.
  • All lessons will be live and synchronous. This means students must log into Zoom for each class AND must REMAIN in Zoom for the duration of each class.  Students must join each class on time and keep their cameras on when class begins.  Some teachers may allow students to turn their cameras off for part of the lesson based on the activity.
  • Students will access each teacher’s Haiku page to receive the Zoom link for each class.  Teachers will place Zoom links on their weekly agenda within Haiku.
  • Students must use their district issued device during Zoom class sessions. This is due to various district software programs, applications and district filters required during school activity.
  • Teachers will be taking attendance at the beginning of each class and marking it in Power School. This attendance process is required in order for OCS to count these two days as part of our school year.  As a result of our requirements, OHS will be phoning parents of students who do not log into Zoom to attend each class.
  • Please contact district technology at [email protected] if you are in need of a portable wifi device.  There are a limited supply of devices available.
  • The OHS front office staff will still be on sight, in-person for any parent questions or support that is needed.
  • High school athletic practices and competitions will go on as planned. However, students should look for communication from their coaches for delayed start times to accommodate travel time once the remote school day ends. All afterschool clubs at the high school level are cancelled.
  • Any students in need of meals may pick-up food in the north entrance of Oxford High School from 3:00 – 4:00 pm on Monday, November 22.

Sincerely,

OHS Administration
