June 1, Evolv Security Measure Update

Dear OHS Students and Parent/Guardian(s) -

This morning we conducted our first day trial of Evolv technology during our student entrance at door 2.  This technology is one safety and security measure we are reviewing and considering as a part of Oxford’s three year plan.  This weapons detection product is used at many theme parks and sports venues to allow people entering to move through a security checkpoint while security teams pinpoint and stop potential weapons from entering the building.  Please revisit Friday’s message, titled ‘Safety Product Trials at OHS’, if you would like to review our District’s most recent security measure updates.

This morning was our first of a three day free trial at OHS, and the general response from students was positive.  We plan to make some minor adjustments for tomorrow to further streamline our student entry into the building.  If we choose to move forward with this product for the 2022-2023 school year at OHS, we will be working with Evolv over the summer to make additional adjustments to our student entry process next year.  We understand there are several factors to consider in our balance to ensure safety, but also create a streamline entry where students feel welcomed into our building.  If your student enters through the the main entrance (door 2) tomorrow or Friday morning, please remind them to have their Chromebook removed from their clear backpack to pass to a staff member or security guard.   If you have questions regarding the Evolv technology, please feel free to contact me @[email protected].

Sincerely

Steve Wolf
