Jan. 26, Financial Assistance from MDHHS

Dear Oxford High School Parents,

As you help your child navigate their healing journey since the tragedy, we want to share a resource with you to help with the financial aspects of that healing. This resource is separate from the mental health counselors available in our buildings and is the first step in bringing state, local, and federal help to our OHS community.

The Michigan's Crime Victim Services Commission (CVSC) Compensation Program may help pay out-of-pocket medical expenses, counseling, and more for our high school students and their immediate families who were affected by the Nov. 30 crime against our school community. This program is administered by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

You can apply directly for the program through the MDHHS or through Common Ground, who has graciously offered to help simplify the process for our families and act as a victims advocate. To apply through Common Ground, just call the Resource and Crisis Helpline at 800-231-1127 and ask for help with CVSC compensation program. They will pair you with an advocate who will walk you through the process.

Please see the brochure from the MDHHS for general information, and Common Ground can provide more detailed eligibility requirements as well as the necessary forms.

Together we are OxfordStrong,
