JOINED OXFORD COMMUNITY SCHOOLS
August 2003

Welcome to my classroom! I have been teaching English for 7 years.  I recently wrote an AP English Composition and Language course and have been teaching that for two years as well.  My true passion is in teaching 9th grade language arts, American Literature, AP Composition, and public speaking. It has been my honor to sponsor the National Honor Society and to give back to the Oxford community.  Teaching young adults is my calling.  Thank you, Oxford, for this honor.

I grew up in Walled Lake, Michigan.  My father is a pharmacist and my mother owns her own business.  I have two brothers and all three of us went to Michigan State University.  GO SPARTANS!  In 10th grade my American Literature teacher, Mr. Johnson, inspired me to become a teacher.  He gave me the confidence and passion to want to work with high school students.  I have pursued this career ever since.

I also enjoy traveling.  I studied post World War II literature in London, England.  Two years ago I was able to take 14 Oxford students to London and Paris to study drama.  In high school I traveled to Germany and Austria with my high school choir.  My most recent traveling adventure was to China where I toured Chinese schools and met with several Chinese teachers and students.  I've also climbed volcanoes in Nicaragua and mountains in Colorado.

Aside from traveling, I love to read, take my two dogs on walks, and attend best practices conferences to stay current in my field.
