August 15, Update on Concerning Phone Call

Dear Oxford High School Families,

We want to follow up with you regarding the OK2Say tip received by police and brought to the attention of the district this morning.  We have been made aware that additional threatening or otherwise inappropriate calls were received by students last night beyond those reported in OK2Say. Those calls were reported to 911 by students’ parents and investigated by law enforcement as well.  While OK2Say comes to the district as well as police, the district did not know of the other calls to 911.  We learned of them from emails sent to us later this morning by parents. Thank you to all those that promptly reported the concerning calls to law enforcement. We do ask that moving forward, when safety concerns involving the school are reported to 911, our families also let the district know by emailing the principal of the school involved and/or district administration so that we are made aware of the concern.

We are aware that some question has come up on how students entered the high school for the LINK event held today.  We have reviewed video cameras on our doors and find that students followed the direction given which was to use one point of entry this morning.  Today’s LINK event went very well. We will continue to make safety of our students our number one priority.

Sincerely,
Dr. Vickie Markavitch
