North Oakland Community Coalition (NOCC)
The North Oakland Community Coalition (NOCC) is a local organization that works to support Oxford youth and families using mental wellness initiatives and activities to prevent youth substance misuse. They have been visiting students during lunches with engaging information tables and activities, campaigns such as their "No Vape November' campaign, their "Drink This Not That" alcohol refusal skills event, a five-week series called "Making Sense of the Senses" that encouraged interactive connection to each of the five senses and how our senses can be used as built-in coping tools for times of stress and anxiety, and countless visits to share tips on connecting with and helping others who may be showing signs of distress. They have been working to ensure that every student not only knows about, but understands, what the new 988 Suicide and Crisis Line is and the many ways in which they can use it for themselves or a friend.
Since January, the NOCC has been working with school administration to plan several end-of-year activities that will strengthen our message of connection and use of suicide prevention resources.
Also, make sure you save the date of May 31st as we will soon be announcing an evening event for middle and high school families that you will not want to miss!

Career & Tech Education Information
The IB Middle Years Programme
- addresses students’ intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being.
- enables students to understand and manage the complexities of our world, and provides them with the skills and attitudes they need in order to take responsible action for the future.
- ensures breadth and depth of knowledge and understanding through the study of eight subject areas.
- requires the study of at least two languages to support students’ understanding of their own culture and of others.
- provides the opportunity for students to undertake an independent project in an area of personal interest.
An IB education is the result of a dynamic interaction between…
- IB learners (who)
- teaching and learning in the IB (how)
- global contexts for teaching and learning (why) and
- the pursuit of significant knowledge and understanding (what).
