MIAAA, MHSAA, and EA Sports make donation to Oxford Strong
This afternoon, the Michigan Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (MIAAA), Michigan High School Athletics Association (MHSAA) and EA Graphics presented a check for $302,000 to the #OxfordStrong cause, in front of nearly 500 Michigan Athletic Directors. The funds were raised during the month of February, when schools sold t-shirts to benefit the initiative. Thank you all for your generosity and we truly are Oxford Strong❤️ #mhsaa #miaaa #eagraphics #OxfordStrOng

For upperclassmen who have online classes at the end of the school day, please park in the North parking lot. Please leave through door #2 onlywhen exiting the building any time before 2:58pm. This door is secure and monitored. Students may not use any other exit when leaving the school day early with permission.
Students checking out of school
Please call our attendance line 248-969-5130 or main office line to check your student out of the school day early. If we have an advanced notice, we will provide your student with a pass to give to their teacher, excusing them to the front office to sign out. All students are required to sign out at the front office when leaving school early.
Doors Close at 7:48 a.m.
We will continue to have student entry each morning at main entrance doors #1 and #2, as well as pool entrance, door #17.
- Doors open at 7:10 am and will close and lock at the start of the school day, 7:48 am. During late starts, doors will open at 9:40 am and close/lock at the start of the school day, 10:20 am. Each designated student entrance will continue to be staffed with security, administration and additional staff. We will continue to have police presence throughout the school day, with police available on-site during student entry.
- If students arrive after the start of the school day, they will be required to enter our main entrance door #2, where they will be securely buzzed into the building. When the school day begins, access to our academic hallways are locked and closed.
- Students arriving late are monitored after being buzzed in and are required to check into the main office to sign in late. During this time, students will also be required to show their school ID (or Power School information) and have their clear backpacks visually scanned. We will continue to check non-clear athletic bags and performing arts instrument cases upon entry where they will be escorted by staff and security to the appropriate destination.
- It is prohibited for students to prop open doors or to allow entry to other students in doorways. Students who violate this rule may face discipline in accordance with our Student Code of Conduct.

Updated to include Asynchronous Schedule on April 27th
Calendar Changes
We are reaching out to communicate upcoming adjustments to the Oxford High School calendar and bell schedule. We are changing Wednesday, March 9 and March 16, from late start school days toasynchronous learn from home days for students. We will outline this change in our upcoming OHS Newsletter, including bell schedules during both weeks of school. We understand you may need to make adjustments at home with your student(s) as a result of this calendar change. The calendar adjustment will not result in adding any additional days at the end of the school year. Careful consideration has been given before making this schedule decision.
We have been collecting stress survey data from our students and staff and will continue to do so throughout the remainder of the school year. We are surveying students again during Advisory class tomorrow, March 3. Please encourage your child to participate in the survey data, as the information is extremely important to us. In addition to the survey data, we are debriefing each week with outside therapists and clinicians who have been working individually with our students and staff. We have also conducted many large group sessions led by mental health professionals for students and staff to process and work through our trauma.
We have and will continue to use this data, assessments and observations we have gathered to make decisions regarding staffing and services. With that said, we have identified patterns which have emerged throughout our building. First, many of our students and staff do not have the cognitive capacity they previously had to remain engaged through the entirety of each class period. Second, many of our students and staff do not have the mental endurance to remain focused and engaged through the duration of the school day. These two items are very, very common in communities that have experienced acute trauma. Third, our students and staff are still building a new understanding of how to navigate their classes and curriculum in a very, very different school year. In other words, learning is looking and feeling different and is more challenging—and we need further guidance.
Therefore, on March 9 and 16, our high school staff will be reporting to OHS to receive additional mental health first-aid training and trauma-informed instruction training. They will also be meeting in departments to ajust our curriculum maps and lesson plans for the rest of the school year. With the challenges we’ve experienced this year, our goal is to provide additional time to help prepare our staff to best support our students and build their learning capacity through the end of the school year.
On Wednesday, March 9, we are holding student group support sessions via Zoom, led by Easterseals clinicians who are currently supporting OHS students. Students can complete this form to sign up for the following zoom group sessions:
- 10:00 -11:00 am
- 12:00 – 1:00 pm
- 1:00 – 2:00 pm
OHS students are welcome to come to our building if they need in-person support with our counseling department on March 9 and 16. Students should enter through door #2 at our main entrance. Students are also welcome to email their counselor if they wish to schedule a time to visit and receive support. We also plan to have supports available for students on Wednesday, March 16, but we will first assess how well our supports run on March 9 to make any necessary adjustments.
Our teachers will be providing students with required asynchronous activities and assignments on Wednesday, March 9 and March 16 to complete at home. This information will be posted on each teacher’s Haiku page. Please feel free to reach out to your student(s) teachers for any questions you have about current or previous coursework.

Gathering Student Feedback
Our staff has begun gathering student input and feedback in their classes at OMS. Additional opportunities for students to provide formal feedback (i.e. permanent memorials, safety measures, supports, etc) are coming soon. This student feedback will help us better support our students and make adjustments as we come back to our building. We continue to encourage our students to share their thoughts, questions, and suggestions with their trusted teachers in classes. Any potential adjustments or updates that you see in the coming days/weeks are guided by the feedback that students have provided.
Clara Stec - Artist of the Week
“Clara was born a natural leader in that she doesn’t need to speak to inspire those around her to push harder and want to be better. She is an incredibly gifted singer that can learn any part on the fly. She is genuinely one of the kindest souls you will ever meet. It has been an absolute honor to be her teacher.” - Leo Humbach, OHS Choir Teacher

Gavin Walters - 12th Grade
I'm not sure Gavin would ever consider himself to be an artist. However, the care and effort he put into his memory box was not missed by me. Gavin has showed incredible growth since ceramics 1 and I hope he considers taking more art classes in the future - because he definitely has the ability!
MSVMA State Honor’s Choir
Zander Warstler and Ella P’Simer participated in the MSVMA State Honor’s Choir. I was such an amazing experience for both students. They came out of their first rehearsal beaming and talking about how amazing it was. The performance was absolutely amazing and I couldn’t be happier or prouder of them. This is definitely an experience that they will never forget!
