December 23, Message about Online Options

Good afternoon,

We wanted to follow up to the message sent yesterday to OHS families.  The message was intended to let families know we are going to be even more flexible than we’ve been previously during the pandemic.  We will be allowing OHS students to take online (OVA curriculum) classes from home through the second semester, yet remain registered as an OHS student for the rest of this year. This accommodation would allow your child to remain on track to graduate from Oxford High School. It will not be remote instruction (zoom instruction with an OHS teacher). While this form of educating students works in the short term, teachers have found it very difficult to maintain the success long term for all students. These classes will be primarily online with support from Oxford Virtual Academy teachers. We have experienced tremendous success with this form of education as OVA has one of, if not the highest, course completion rates in the state of Michigan for virtual schools.

We wanted you to have this information as you are making your choice for your child as we look to resume school. We also want you to know that we will be releasing more information on the return to seated instruction at the beginning of the January 3 week. Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Oxford Community Schools
