NHS Application for Current 10th & 11th Graders

UPDATE May 7, 2021:

Hello, if you were unable to attend our Zoom meetings that addressed what the National Honor Society is and how to become a member, then you can use the video below to get the information. You MUST decide if you’re going to apply to our chapter by May 14, 2021. If you do not begin the process by then, you will no longer be eligible to apply for the 2021-2022 school year. Also, you are only eligible to apply if you are a current sophomore or junior (you will be junior or senior next year) and you have a 3.5 or higher GPA. Watch the video and then email me or post questions in our Google Classroom if you have any.

Dear Scholars,

If you are a current sophomore or junior with a GPA of 3.500 or higher, you have met the initial requirement for consideration for membership into the Freda Quayle Chapter of the National Honor Society. In addition to this initial requirement, several other qualities must be demonstrated in order to be considered for induction. Some of these qualifications include: teacher recommendations, personal references, community service hours, and strong leadership in educational and/or extracurricular activities.

In order to answer any questions you may have regarding the selection process, responsibilities of membership, and completion of the required forms, I will be holding a MANDATORY informational meeting via Zoom on Wednesday, May 5 at 9:10 a.m. and later that afternoon on Wednesday, May 5 at 4:00 p.m. (same Zoom link). Attendance at ONE of these meetings is mandatory for students who wish to join the National Honor Society. YOU DO NOT NEED TO ATTEND BOTH.

Parents do not need to attend the meeting. Only students who wish to apply need to attend ONE of the meetings; however, parents are welcome to attend. Parents, unfortunately, cannot attend in place of the student wishing to join the National Honor Society. The meetings last about an hour and ten minutes. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me in room 316 or at 248 969 5100 extension 9471. You can also reach me via email at [email protected].

Please accept my congratulations for this significant scholastic accomplishment. I look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

Sincerely,
Joshua G. Budden,
NHS Advisor, Oxford High School
