August 1998

Before beginning my career with Oxford, I spent my student teaching practice in Perth, Western Australia. When I returned from my study abroad, I was hired by Oxford Schools.

During my experience at Oxford, I have taught at both Crossroads for Youth and Oxford High School. At Crossroads I was nominated as Oxford’s National 1999 Sallie Mae First Class Teacher Award; in 2003 and 2011 I was Oxford High School’s Teacher of the Year.

As a teacher at the high school, I have worked with student groups and school improvement groups. In addition, I have written and received grants, including the Michigan Association of School Boards Educational Excellence Award. As a member of the Language Arts department, I have not only taught classes at every single grade level but I have also participated in the writing and revision of the curriculum.  I have also hosted several student teachers and student observers.

Not long after Oxford began the implementation of the International Baccalaureate programme, I was appointed coordinator of the Middle Years Programme which runs from 6-10 grade. Most recently, my role has evolved to include English Language Arts Coach for the Secondary.

After MYP Authorization at OMS and OHS, I was invited by the International Baccalaureate to attend the IB Academy. Through my training I have lead MYP workshops, consulted schools through the MYP authorization process, and served on authorization teams throughout the United States.

I feel incredibly blessed to be part of the Oxford family. Go Wildcats!
